Harris County Municipal Utility District 304 (HCMUD 304) is in the early stages of conducting a Rate Order Study, which is a thorough review of our current water rates, and all costs associated with bringing water to our residents.
The District has kept water rates the same for the past eight years, while the cost of producing and delivering clean water has continued to increase. To evaluate the total cost of operating our system, we have engaged an outside expert to perform a rate order analysis.
At the meeting on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the expert confirmed that the district is not charging sufficient rates to cover the cost. However, no official proposals or scenarios have been presented to the board for consideration. In future meetings the Board will continue to consider any necessary rate changes and will make a decision based on the best financial interests of the District.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to stay tuned for updates as we work to maintain reliable water and wastewater services for all residents.
